For a good feeling in the stomach: Fennel

The greeny white bulb from the mediterranean region has its uses in the form of tea in every household. And for the most varying of health problems: The components athenole and fenchone have a decongestant effect and for that reason are practical in treating symptoms of a cold such as a cough and sniffles. The essential oil which it contains also alleviates indigestion and stomach cramps. Often, a mug of fennel tea even helps to noticeably reduce the feeling of fullness after a meal. Above all, babys and toddlers take to fennel very well. Used externally, fennel oil can help stomach massages to relieve discomfort in the gastrointestinal tract. The scent of fennel oil has an additional balancing and restorative effect on our psyche.

Our creamy fennel soup doesn‘t only do good for your stomach but is also rich in calcium- so it strengthens your bones and gives you energy for the day.


Recipe:

1 Fennel bulb

200 g Potatoes, peeled

2 Onions

2 tbsp Olive Oil

1 l Vegetable Stock

Pepper, dried coriander

Chopped Almonds

 

  1. Cut the fennel into thin slices, chop the onions small and dice the potatoes.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onions until golden yellow. Add the stock, fennel and potatoes. Bring to the boil and simmer for 20 minutes with the lid on.
  3. Puree everything together and season with pepper and coriander to taste. Add chopped almonds to your liking.
